RAPIDINHAS DO TDN

 CHAMPERS ELYSEES SOLD TO YOSHIDA

By Kelsey Riley

Teruya Yoshida of Shadai Farm has purchased the recent G1 Matron S. winner Champers Elysees (GB) (Elzaam {Aus}) from Dublin-based syndicate Fitzwilliam Racing.

The 3-year-old filly was selected by trainer Johnny Murtagh and Eddie Linehan for i28,000 from the 2018 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and was one of 10 yearlings in Fitzwilliam Racing=s third intake. She broke her maiden on her fourth start at The Curragh last year and was second in Naas's Birdcatcher H. She has gone unbeaten in four tries this year, winning at handicap and listed levels before taking Gowran's G3 Fairy Bridge S. on Sept. 2 and the Matron on Irish Champions Weekend over 2020 Classic winners Peaceful (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Fancy Blue (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}).

GHAIYYATH UNLIKELY FOR ARC

Trainer Charlie Appleby has confirmed that Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) is likely to bypass the Oct. 4 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in favour of the G1 Qipco Champion S. on Oct. 17 or the GI Breeders' Cup Turf on Nov. 7. The 5-year-old beat just two home in last year's Arc, but since then has won four of his five starts including the G1 Coronation Cup, G1 Coral-Eclipse and G1 Juddmonte International. Ghaiyyath suffered his first defeat of the season when second to Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Irish Champion S. on Sept. 12.

GROUP 1 AIM FOR FEV ROVER

Progressive 2-year-old filly Fev Rover (Ire) (Gutaifan {Ire}) will be seen next in Group 1 company in either the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket on Oct. 9 or the Prix Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp on Oct. 4.

Nick Bradley Racing's Fev Rover was second to Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) in the G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. on July 10 before breaking her maiden in Sandown's Listed Star S. 11 days later. She then traveled to Deauville to take the G2 Prix du Calvados over the subsequent Group 3 winner Plainchant (Fr) (Gregorian {Ire}).

DONJAH SKIPS ARC FOR BREEDERS' CUP

The G1 Preis von Europa winner Donjah (Ger) (Teofilo {Ire}) will miss the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and will be aimed instead towards the Breeders' Cup meeting at Keeneland.

The 4-year-old, who races for Dr Stefan Oschmann's Darius Racing, made her most recent start in the G1 Grosser Preis von Baden, in which she was fourth, finishing less than two lengths behind the winner Barney Roy (Ire) (Excelebration {Ire}).

ARC ATTENDANCE TO BE REDUCED

Attendance at ParisLongchamp on Prix de l=Arc de Triomphe weekend on Oct. 3 and 4 will be cut from its original projection of 5,000 after Paris and its suburbs were once again placed in the Reinforced Alert Zone of areas with high incidences of coronavirus. The French government announced on Wednesday that maximum attendance at public events in such zones would be 1,000, but France Galop is seeking clarity on whether that number includes staff.

France Galop has suspended ticket sales for the weekend and, pending the publication of the official decree that will specify terms, is working on setting up a system that will remain open to racing professionals while respecting health measures.
