CHAMPION GAME WINNER RETIRED TO LANE'S END

Champion Game Winner (Candy Ride {Arg}--Indyan Giving, by A.P. Indy) has been retired from racing and will stand the 2021 season at Lane's End in Versailles, Kentucky. A stud fee will be forthcoming.

During his championship juvenile season, "TDN Rising Star" Game Winner was undefeated in four starts--a 5 3/4-length score in his career unveiling at Del Mar followed by the GI Del Mar Futurity, GI American Pharoah S. and GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs. After earning the champion 2-year-old title for the 2018 season, he returned at three to finish was runner up in the GI Santa Anita Derby and GII Rebel S. and finished fifth in the GI Kentucky Derby.

MAX PLAYER TO PREAKNESS

George Hall and Sports BLX Thoroughbreds Corp'Max Player (Honor Code) will contest the Oct. 3 GI Preakness S. at Pimlico.

Winner of the GIII Wither S. for Linda Rice in February, Max Player finished third in the June 20 GI Belmont S before filling the same position in the GI Travers S. Aug. 8. Transferred to Asmussen, he was fifth in his latest start in the Sept. 5 GI Kentucky Derby. Asmussen previously won the Preakness with Curlin in 2007 and again in 2009 with Rachel Alexandra.

SADLER'S JOY PREPARES FOR TURF CLASSIC

Woodslane Farm's Sadler's Joy (Kitten's Joy) worked a half-mile in :50.03 over Belmont=s main track Wednesday morning in preparation for his fourth appearance in the GI Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Oct. 3. Trained by Tom Albertrani, the 7-year-old finished fourth in 2017 and third in the past two editions of the Joe Hirsch. A veteran of 32 career starts, the late-running horse boasts a record of 7-4-10 with purse earnings in excess of $2.6 million.
